The Australian Government through the Department of Health and Ageing offer eligible clients with a hearing loss access to free or subsidised hearing instruments and rehabilitation services. This scheme is administered by the Office of Hearing Services.
Who is eligible?
Any Australian citizen or permanent resident over the age of 21 who meets the following criteria:
Has a Department of Veterans' Affairs Repatriation Health Card or is a dependant of a person who has one of these cards:
- DVA Pensioner Concession Card
- White Health Repatriation Card (for hearing loss)
- Gold Health Repatriation Card
Or
- If you have a Pensioner Concession Card or receive a Centrelink Sickness Allowance Benefit
- You are a dependant of a person who has one of these cards
- You are a current Serving Member of the Australian Defence Forces
If you are eligible you can apply for a Hearing Services Voucher from the Office of Hearing Services. The helpful staff at Excellence in Hearing can assist you in making your application or you can contact the Office of Hearing Services directly on 1800 500 726.
