Excellence in Hearing commenced business nearly eight years ago. When Gerry Taniane the director of the firm purchased the company he had managed for the previous nine years, he decided it needed a name change and a new identity and so Excellence in hearing was created.

Initially operating from the Dymocks Book Arcade on George St in Sydney, we opened a second office at Ulladulla on the New South Wales South coast in late 2005. As well our clinicians have visiting sites in Tamworth, Bateman's Bay, Moruya and Nowra.

As independent operators we are able to access the best hearing devices from all the major suppliers. We are accredited to provide services on behalf of the Office of Hearing services to all eligible pensioners. This means that eligible pensioners now have a choice of where they go to receive hearing care.

Meet the team

Gerry Taniane, Managing Director: For over 30 years now Gerry has served the hearing impaired of New South Wales. He spent his early days as a technician repairing hearing aids at the National Acoustics Laboratories, before switching to the private sector in 1980. After completing his studies in Audiometry he commenced dispensing hearing aids in 1981 with OPSM Hearing Division.

Gerry joined Johnson and Murphy Hearing in 1989 and after nine years he purchased the business changing its name to Excellence in Hearing. As the business is independent of any manufacturers, Gerry has a broad knowledge of a comprehensive range of hearing aid brands and models. He believes in tailoring hearing aids to suit the client rather than modifying the client to suit the hearing aids. He believes one of the best sources of new business is client referral and that means client satisfaction.

Out of the office he loves to play golf, something he never gets to do as much as he would like. He also loves walking and watching the South Sydney Rugby League team go through its paces. 2006 will be perfect if he can sink a hole in one and the Rabbitohs can win the trophy. Well perhaps 2007 or even 2008.

Michelle

Michelle Riley, Receptionist Sydney Office: The friendly voice on the end of our 1800 number Michelle has been our Sydney receptionist for over two years now. She has developed a strong rapport with our clients and ensures that everything runs smooth in the office. Over the period of her employment Michelle has developed a keen interest in Audiometry. She can perform most minor repairs in house and has just commenced her studies in Audiometry by correspondence.

Being family orientated Michelle spends most of her spare time at home with her Mum and sister. She loves reading and exploring the world over the internet. In the future she would love to travel overseas and do her exploring first hand.

Mathew

Matthew Reid, Audiologist Ulladulla Office:
Matthew Reid completed a degree in Science (Physiology and Biochemistry) and a Postgraduate Degree in Audiology from the University of Melbourne in 1997.

Matthew has been employed in both private and government organisations testing hearing and fitting hearing aids. He has worked in Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney and is now based in Ulladulla on the South Coast of NSW.

Matthew is committed to providing hearing care and rehabilitation using the latest in hearing testing techniques and utilising the latest in hearing aid technology.

Michelle

Michelle Ransley, Receptionist Ulladulla Office:
Having moved from Sydney to Milton in 1988, she has lived in the area for 18 years with her husband and 3 children. Michelle commenced at Excellence in Hearing when we opened our Ulladulla rooms late 2005.

She is smiling face and bubbly voice on our phone. Her local knowledge has been a bonus with the opening of our rooms. When she is not working with us, Michelle enjoys all kinds of sporting activities especially taking advantage of the local beaches.
